Blogging is hard, especially if you don’t have a lot of money! To be successful as a blogger these days, it will take a lot of content and a lot of hard work! The question a lot of people are asking right now is ‘how can AI help me as a blogger?’. Can it write all my blog posts for me? How else can it increase my productivity as a blogger? This is what we hope to answer today!
What Can’t AI Do for Bloggers Right Now?
AI is not a fully fledged content automation machine (yet), so this is what I would recommend you DON’T use AI for on your blog!
- Full Articles!
A lot of bloggers heard about the whole OpenAI/ GTP-3 wave of writing tools coming out and thought it might be their golden ticket. They had visions of AI automatically generating all of their articles for them! Unfortunately, at the time of writing, this is far from the truth!
OpenAI (the producers of GTP-3 that most tools use) are actually against the creation of long form content such as blog posts. This leaves most AI tools with only one option to create such posts. They will piece together articles in smaller chunks, but the problem with this is that each chunk is not well linked together.
At best, you have a partially useable blog post that doesn’t flow very well. At worst, you have a bunch of junk text that is totally unusable.
So no, AI writers can’t just create all your content for you. This is why one of my favourite tools to use for this right now is ShortlyAI, who operates more like an AI writing assistant. It will write alongside a human to give the best long form AI content to date (in my humble opinion). Below is an example video showing how to do that.
We also have another article about the best way to write articles with AI writers, if that interests you.
The current crop of AI is searching the internet for information relative to whatever you are asking it to write about. It will then take all of this information and use it as the basis for its own unique content generation. The problem here is that more often than not facts are produced that are simply untrue! So any articles you produce with AI must be fact checked carefully before posting.
What Can AI Do for Bloggers Right Now?
Now lets get a bit more positive and talk about what AI can be used to do on your blog. There are dozens of different ways AI can help your content, and I will now highlight just a few of my personal favourites!
It can be hard sometimes as a blogger to come up with good ideas. When you have writer’s block, an AI tool can definitely help out! The main things I would brainstorm on my blogs are the blog titles and the blog outlines. These are two things that work well when AI generated. Most AI writing tools will generate several ideas at once, making it easier for you to find something you like.
Now lets give you a demo using ShortlyAI. I asked this AI writer to give me blog titles and a blog outline on the subject of ‘Best way to get a good deal on a new car’. These are the results.
The Best Way To Get A Good Deal On A New Car
Secrets To Getting The Best Deal On Your Next Car Purchase
2019’s Best Deals On New Cars – What You Need To Know (Shopping Tips)
Buying a new car – 3 key things to consider to get the best deal
Smart Tips For Getting A Deal on a Brand-New Vehicle
I think you will agree that not all the titles are good, but this is what happens with all the AI content tools right now, simply because of the nature of the AI framework they are based on. With a few regenerations, you will find multiple excellent titles.
Below is a video showing a live example of making blog post titles.
Now for the blog outline. This is what I got out of ShortlyAI at the first time of asking…
How to get the best deal on a new car
The steps to follow for getting the most money possible in your trade-in
What negotiating strategies to use when buying a new car
The 10 specific questions you should ask before making an offer on any car
How much down payment do I need?
Should I buy or lease my next vehicle?
We all love a good listicle, right? ‘Top 10 cats that rule the internet’… ‘100 reasons why dogs are better than cats’… you get the gist. Well, AI can write these for you too! The problem with the current AI is the fact it finds it tough to interconnect and interrelate the different parts of an article. This is not a problem with a listicle, as each part of the list is in effect a separate entity. There is much less interconnecting going on between sections.
Of course, I am not going to show you a demo on the full article. However, I asked ShortlyAI for an outline for a listicle about the ‘top sports cars of 2021’ and this is what it gave me.
The McLaren P1
Mercedes-Benz Pagani Huayra 2020
Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta
Aston Martin DP-100 Speedster 2020 Edition
Bugatti Divo 2020 Edition
Porsche 911 GT3 RS 2020 Editions
Lamborghini Huracan Performante Jota TR2020i Editions
Ford GT PI2020 Editions 2020 Model Year Models: Supersports and Base Models
You could then use ShortlyAI to generate each section. For example, this is the generation it gave me for the Mclaren P1.
The Mclaren P1 is a British sports car that has an extremely powerful 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. It also has a dual-clutch 7-speed transmission system and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, the fastest on the market at this time. The Mclaren P1 will set you back about $966,000 if you’re looking for one new, but there are some used models out there for about half of that cost.
- Meta Descriptions!
It can be annoying for bloggers to come up with a well written meta description for articles. Many will simply just use the first paragraph of the article and be done with it!
This is where an AI writing tool can really help you! It can spit out multiple unique meta descriptions based on the words of your article. Of course there will always be a few bad ones in the mix, but with a few generations you will find one you love. This is the nature of AI right now!
This is what I got out of ShortlyAI for the article example about the ‘Best Sports Cars of 2021.’
Selecting the best sports cars in 2021 is not easy. There are many great cars to choose from, but which one is right for you? This article will give you the information you need to make a knowledgeable choice.
- Social Media Posts
You can, of course, use the same method as above for blog titles for social media titles (although many tools will have specific templates for social media). As well as making social media titles or headlines, AI can do an excellent job of coming up with the short paragraphs needed for the actual social media post.
For example, here is a social media post idea I got out of ShortlyAI for the ‘Best Sports Cars of 2021’ article idea.
The 2021 sports car market is shaping up nicely and that means many new models of cars will be out for people to buy. Here are the top 9 models you need to look out for in 2021.
- Article Intros
AI writing tools cannot write whole blog posts, but they can create some amazing sounding article intros. This can be very handy, especially if you feel you are not a great writer yourself. Of course this is not a substitute for a fully written article, but one great intro can be the basis for an excellent article. After all, this is the first thing your readers see!
Here is an example of an article intro I got out of ShortlyAI for the article ‘best sports cars of 2021.’
Luxury cars are a highly competitive market, and the competition is always constantly increasing in quality. Innovation, design, comfort and power are all aspects that companies strive to differentiate themselves with. And each year, we see more and more advancements being made to these factors.
There’s one thing that never changes though: the cars on this list will be absolutely amazing no matter what year they come out!
Get That AI Working for You!! 🙂
So there you have it! A short guide to using AI on your blog to help increase your productivity and take some of the load off. I find that AI writing tools work best when they are used alongside human writers (to spot mistakes or improve bad content). Of course, a lot of smart people in the AI field are working hard to make their creations better and more useful. But for the time being I see AI as an assistant to my blog content 🙂
If you are a blogger looking into using AI in your blog creation processes, I would recommend trying out multiple tools to see which suits you best. Almost all will give you a free trial before having to commit to being a paid member.
